TIPS

Tips for Trying on your Shoes

1. Feet swell over the course of the day, so to insure a proper fit, always try on shoes later in the day.

2. Always try on both shoes. Most people have a slight size variance from one foot to the other. Obviously, the larger of the two will dictate which size you actually need.

3. Be sure to stand and walk a bit in the shoes.

4. Wear the socks you'd normally wear with the shoes you're trying on.

5. Don't allow for a "breaking in" period. Shoes should be comfortable when you first wear them.

6. There should be just a bit of space between your heel and the heel of your shoe. Too much is bad, but the heel of the shoe should not be rubbing, or pressing into your skin.

7. You should be able to move your toes freely in the shoes. Shoes that constrict or pinch your toes will make you miserable fast, and can lead to painful, and more serious problems down the road.

Shoe Width

Our standard shoe width is an F fitting. However, in order to accommodate variations in foot size, alternative width fittings are available in certain styles.

Narrow Fit = D width (USA E Fit)

Standard or Average Fit = F width (USA EE Fit)

Wide Fit = G width (USA EEE Fit)

Extra Wide Fit = H width (USA EEEE Fit)

As a shoe increases in size, the length and width both increase. A size 10F shoe is therefore one size bigger and one size wider than a size 9F shoe. A size 9G shoe is a size wider than a size 9F - in other words the width of the shoe would roughly correspond to a size 10F.

In the table below, the 11D, the 10F, the 9G and 8H would all be roughly the same width.
